Let's work together as a team
Lindsay Kinney, LMFT-T
The Why:
Healthy relationships don't just happen by accident! They are built and maintained through understanding and trust.
My work is dedicated to strengthening foundations so each individual is free to experience deep connection, resilience, and change.
I prioritize meeting individuals and couples face-to-face, where possible, because you're unique and life is real.
Welcome!
I'm glad you're here. I believe in human integrity and dignity: each of us longs for honesty and genuine connection. My approach to therapy has been shaped by life experience, rigorous clinical training, and a lifelong commitment to learning. These personal factors help me guide individual and couple sessions toward lasting, meaningful balance and change. My life's experiences continue to inform the way I listen, think, and walk alongside clients who are ready to gain self understanding and grow relationships in new ways.
My Approach
As a systems theorist, I believe that people are best understood within the context of their relationships. I work in collaboration with you to better understand the patterns and experiences that have shaped your life.
I believe that finding balance and equality leads us to better relational experiences. My role is to provide both compassionate support and thoughtful challenge as we work toward lasting change.
Outside the Office
It is a genuine honor to sit with clients and I become more energized the more time I spend in a therapy chair!
Beyond my clinical work, I will often explore new ideas through books, writing, music, and finding inspiration in the quiet places that invite reflection. These practices help me check in with my nervous system, remaining curious to expand on life experiences.
What You Can Expect
My hope is to ensure that your experience is tailored to your goals. You can expect that I am ready to participate in a collaborative, thoughtful process that balances warmth, curiosity, and evidence-based care.
To Sum Up:
At Linden Relational Therapy, LLC, we specialize in individual therapy, marriage counseling, and couples therapy in the Kansas City, Overland Park, and Leawood area. I work with couples, individuals, professionals, and business owners to move beyond surface-level relational coping. Using systems theory, attachment-informed approaches, and evidence-based practices, we can work together to achieve lasting change in your relationships and work to increase meaningful emotional well-being.
Why Choose Therapy?
Therapy Can Help With

Love Brought Us Together... (now what?)
You chased the fairy tale ending and found your person. Turns out, that comes with its own share of challenges and concerns. Whether you're finding it difficult to be on the same page or it seems like your partner's just reading a completely different book, therapy can help change relational systems. Work individually or together with your partner to write the next chapters of your life with confidence, strength, and shared integrity.
Understanding Grief
Grief is a natural part of our human experience. It isn't something to just 'get over.' Therapy provides a safe space to learn how to carry the love and loss throughout your life, as it continues to unfold.
Whatever your loss, it is a challenge to make sense of your situation. Whether it's the death of a loved one, loss of relationship, infidelity, infertility, or moving into retirement-therapy provides a supportive environment to process many kinds of loss.

Long-Standing Family Issues
Our life decisions sometimes reflect intergenerational patterns of behavior. In session, we can process these individually or within a family setting, in instances where it's a good idea to do so.
Today's decisions impact the relational skills we pass forward to next generations, too. Therapy is an optimal place to be mindful of naming these family inheritances.
Emotional Distance
It seems like it gets harder and harder to connect with the people around you. Maybe you notice that the same issues repeatedly surface in your relationships. If it feels like nobody understands you, and you're left holding the anxiety, shame, or burnout then therapy is a great start toward feeling your personal significance.
High Achievers

Success doesn't always look the way we hoped it would and it feels as though there's zero margin for error. Many professionals and business owners thrive when solving problems and leading teams yet experience a personal struggle to feel emotional connection at home and with peers. Therapy is a safe space to strengthen your ability to communicate with a measure of vulnerability. We can work together to increase relational health without sacrificing ambition.
Stress Management
You don't have to wait until things fall apart to experience the benefits of therapy. Life in the postmodern, digital world comes with its share of stressors. Together we will game plan and conceptualize a balance that's just for you!
